“Mommy has to go to work. Bye-bye,” I said to two-year old Ava as I began our hug-and-kiss ritual this morning.
“I go Mama too,” she urged.
“No, baby I’m sorry, mommy’s going to work,” I replied and kissed the top of her head.
She looked up into my eyes, lifted her hands, and told me in a matter-of-fact voice, “I go work too.”
I remember those days, since I’m a single mom. It was heart breaking wow, this just brought back memories!!! I’m so glad she’s an adult and married and I don’t have to do that ever again.
So very sweet!
Those were sad days to me when my kids were babes. But, later they understood they could not go with us everywhere (even though we wanted them with us.)
