Babies are asleep. I’ve got my workout clothes on and just unwrapped my brand new Jillian Michaels 30 Day Shred DVD. Place the video in the DVD player. Hit play. Menu pops up. The menu shows the work out as the second option. I need the remote to select it. You think they would put all the controls on the actual DVD player. Where’s the remote? Oh no, I seem to recall a baby carrying it around with her in the nursery. That’s okay, the girls sleep like rocks.
Off with my shoes. Tip toe down the hall. Carefully I crack open their door. Yikes! There’s a baby sitting up in her crib. Quick, quick, shut the door before she doesn’t see me. Phew, she didn’t see me. Doh! I need that remote!
Okay, never fear. I’ve got a plan B. I’ll YouTube it on my handy Apple TV. I have that remote! Found it. Shoes back on. Hit play. Workout begin.
Ten minutes into the video, I hear a loud wail coming from the nursery. Oh no!!! One baby is teething, and she just woke up early from their nap. Work out over. Doh!
Resistance to Move. The resistance to move is a battle when you have 2 babies. I joined the December Health and Fit Challenge for this month. And unsurprisingly, many obstacles bar my attempts to working out.
My puny goal: Exercise 15 minutes, 3 times a week. (Not so puny though, but VERY DIFFICULT.)
If you can’t beat ’em, join ’em. My odds of success increase if I take the girls with me. So, twice I took my girls on walks in their jogging stroller. Thus, we get happy babies and a happy, and hopefully skinnier, mommy.
How did I do this week?
- 45 minutes of walking pushing 2 babies in a jogging stroller.
- 10 minutes of 30 Day Shred.
- 20 minutes of walking pushing 2 babies in a jogging stroller, plus 5 minutes of jogging.
Grace under fire. So, you may notice that I didn’t actually get 15 minutes on one day. I’m ok with that. I’m learning to give myself grace as a mom. We moms have tendencies to set lofty goals, then condemn ourselves when we fail. Ninety percent to my goal is a victory in my book!
This week, I’ll be on the look out for “la resistance” to work out. I’m aiming for 100 percent! Want to join me? Better late than never. Check out Atlantamomofthree’s challenge. Check out next Monday for an update.
Happy Exercising!

Woo-hoo!! Way to GO! You know, I’m no math whiz, but the fact that you had an hour and a half between the other two days makes up for only doing 10 minutes on the other day, IMO!!! 😀 Keep up the great work!
Sorry, I meant to say over an hour! See, math is not my strong point! 😛
Thanks! wooohoo!
Hey, I just noticed you posted your link on the original challenge post but I have a new one up for the week. Would you mind going over there and giving your link again so others can see it? The reason you saw the original one at the top of my blog is because I had it stickied there but now I’ve moved it so no on else does that. (My fault!) http://atlantamomofthree.wordpress.com/2012/12/10/december-health-and-fitness-challenge-week-one-complete/
Done. I’ll do it next time!
Love your idea of taking the girls along for your workout. They get fresh air and mommy gets in some cardio!
Thanks for the encouragement. I need it! 🙂
great job! 15 minutes a day is better than nothing. I didn’t workout until my son was 6 months old and didn’t workout regularly until he was 1. Keep it up!
You are an answer to my prayer! I prayed last night that God would give me motivation to work out because with the crazy ‘season’ we have had I have been eating terrible and not exercising at all! Thanks for posting this! It gives me encouragement to at least try to do something….if it’s 15 minutes…I know I can handle that!
Thank you! You can do it, and I can too. May the Lord put in out hearts the “want to” get moving. Keep me updated on how you do this week. Toddles!

I tend not to leave a lot of responses, but after looking at through
some of the responses on this page Viva La Resistance | Married With Twins.
I do have a few questions for you if it’s okay. Is it just me or does it look like like a few of the comments appear like they are coming from brain dead visitors? 😛 And, if you are posting at other online social sites, I’d like to keep up with everything new you have to
post. Could you list of all of all your social community sites like your twitter feed, Facebook page or linkedin profile?
