Praying for Your Unborn Twins, Week 24 Bed Rest

While on bed rest, I’ve been praying for our girls protection, health, and to be delivered into this world in the Lord’s timing.   Last week, I came across this wonderful verse during my bible study on Psalm 71. (I normally read NASB, but the ESV version was beautiful.)

Upon You I have leaned from before my birth;
You are He who took me from my mother’s womb.
My praise is continually of you.
Psalm 71:5 (ESV)

What a fabulous verse confirming that the Lord actually determines the time when we are born.  He is the one who decides when to take us from our mother’s womb.  Yes, we can schedule induced pregnancies all we want, but the Lord is still sovereign.  He knows the date and time of every birth.

The psalmist also writes that he has leaned upon the Lord since before he was born, just as my girls are leaning and trusting in Him unconsciously.  They are depending on Him to allow my body to give them the life sustaining breath that they need.  He is our El Shaddai our “pourer forth of life”  (more on El Shaddai in a future post).

My Prayer:

Lord, you are the creator of these babies.  You know their innermost fiber, they are your children.  You are He who will take them from my womb in your timing. Father in the name of Jesus, I ask for healthy strong babies that will be mighty warriors for your kingdom.  May they be full of your grace and love to care for your people.  May they love you with all their heart mind and soul and love their neighbor just as you have loved them.  (Matt 22:36-39, John 13:34)

Father, wash away my anxieties about their health.  I place my trust you in you, Jehovah Rapha, the Lord who heals.  Thank you for your peace and your grace as you guard my heart and mind in Christ Jesus (Phil 4:6-7). Amen.

  1. Maya it is so inspiring to read your posts as you go through your pregnancy. I pray for you, Chris and your babies often. I find myself in a place of awe as I go through my own twin pregnancy. I lay it all at the feet of our Father and trust him to take care of my unborn sons.
